Tops in the Box Office

1. Avatar

Billion Dollar Blockbuster
Avatar tops the $1 Billion dollar mark in ticket sales. The Sci-Fi adventure currently ranks in the top 10 of all-time movies sales after just 20 days. The sales are due in large part to 3D and IMAX ticket sales, which are typically more expensive than watching on normal screens. Avatar has brought in $352.1 million domestically and $670.2 million internationally. $66.4 million has come in from IMAX theaters. (sales figures according to actiontrip.com)

2. Sherlock Holmes - View Trailer
3. Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel - View Trailer
4. It's Complicated - View Trailer
More than just a Facebook status, it's the number 4 movie in the country. Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin star in this dramatic comedy that sheds light on what your friends (or significant others') dating status really means. Alec Baldwin should've started doing comedy a long time ago.

EVENTS

Recess! at the Sheraton National
900 South Orme St
Arlington, VA
9pm to 1am

Recess combines everything you're used to at most clubs in downtown DC with the pure fun of video and board games. You can get your dance and drink on or mingle with new friends or old ones while challenging them to a game on Nintendo Wii. The mix is a fantastic departure from the usual nightclub scene. Recess was the Washington Post's Editor's pick for January 9th. See what they had to say about it here.

Tiger in Vanity Fair

The Vanity Fair cover photo, which was taken prior to Tiger's adultery scandal connecting him to a dozen different women not named Elin Nordegren (Tiger's wife) probably originally meant to imply a different side of Tiger Woods (work ethic mostly). It now seems to have a different denotation following his now-public transgressions. The cover story can be found here.

Literature
'Blissful Misery' by Thurman Williams

Fact based fiction is the best way to describe the debut novel by Thurman A. Williams; thought provoking, poetically driven prose that delves into the male psyche and reveals the secrets of a soul longing for love.

Jettson Majors, an affluent African American male, takes you on a journey through the sorted escapades of his steamy past; revealing truths that even he was not prepared to reveal.

Get your advanced copy of Blissful Misery: Jettson's Psalm today and be sure to RSVP for the Book Release/ Birthday Event on February 2, 2010. (commentary courtesy of blurb.com)
